Baseball Recap: Brenner Russell Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mercy Culture Prep

Nazarene Christian Academy's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mercy Culture Prep Royals a 3-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Jacob Struble made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Struble wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brenner Russell, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Aidan Adams was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Nazarene Christian Academy's record now sits at 5-2. As for Mercy Culture Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9-1.

Nazarene Christian Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mercy Culture Prep: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
