Baseball Game Preview: Chaminade Flyers vs. Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds

The Chaminade Flyers will challenge the Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Chaminade's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.

Chaminade is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Holy Cross with a sharp 19-1 win on Thursday. The Flyers haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Matteo Moscheni looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Danny Anicito was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Settanni, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Chaminade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .765. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Kellenberg Memorial has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.06 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They came up short against St. Dominic, falling 15-5. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Chaminade pushed their record up to 11-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Kellenberg Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
