Volleyball Recap: West Geauga Comes Up Short

West Geauga and Marlington squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but West Geauga had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Dukes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wolverines have suffered since September 25th.

While West Geauga ultimately came up short, they really made Marlington work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-20, 27-25, 25-15.

Despite the defeat, West Geauga saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Peyton Gambatese had six digs and four aces. Gambatese has been hot recently, having posted four or more aces the last three times she's played.

West Geauga's loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7. As for Marlington, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-2.

West Geauga does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marlington, after both having extra time off, they and Beaumont School will shake off the rust and duke it out at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
