Baseball Recap: Wellington Wolverines vs. South Fork Bulldogs
Wellington scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They never let the South Fork Bulldogs onto the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for Wellington as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Paul Parent looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Brett Hobbs was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor King, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Wellington's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-12. As for South Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wellington will take on Park Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Fork, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Atlantic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
