Football Recap: Bishop Timon-St. Jude Comes Up Short

If Bishop Timon-St. Jude was feeling good fresh off their 33-10 takedown of Varsity Opponent two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers were outmatched by the Canisius Crusaders and fell 56-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost six in a row.

Bishop Timon-St. Jude's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Amari Worthy and Julius Afrifa-Irving, who each picked up one interception apiece. Afrifa-Irving got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

It was another big night for Elijah Kimble, who rushed for 127 yards and three scores on only 15 carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards for Canisius. Another player making a difference was Jack Cullinan, who picked up 58 receiving yards and one TD.

Bishop Timon-St. Jude's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Canisius, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Bishop Timon-St. Jude will head out to challenge Eastridge at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Canisius, they will venture away from home to square off against Steubenville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders will need to watch out since the Big Red have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
