Basketball Game Preview: Snow Canyon Warriors vs. Desert Hills Thunder

The Snow Canyon Warriors will challenge the Desert Hills Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Snow Canyon will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Snow Canyon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Sunnyslope, who was ranked ninth in their home state at the time (Snow Canyon was ranked third). Snow Canyon blew past Sunnyslope 74-46 on Saturday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 25 points or more this season.

Olivia Hamlin was her usual excellent self, as she made all 8 shots she took from beyond the arc for 37 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The contest was her 39th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chaylee Andrews, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Snow Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 11 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Desert Hills suffered their biggest defeat since February 15th last Saturday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting St. Monica an easy 59-39 win. The game marked the Thunder's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Desert Hills' loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Snow Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 13-0.

Everything came up roses for Snow Canyon against Desert Hills in their previous meeting back in February, as the squad secured a 76-49 win. In that match, Snow Canyon amassed a halftime lead of 43-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
