Softball Recap: Elida's Winning Streak Snapped at Ten Games

After a string of ten wins, Elida's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Memorial Roughriders by a score of 7-6. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Roughriders from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Lilly Sifrit was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Maddie Kill made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Delaney Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Elida's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-6. As for Memorial, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Elida will square off against Lima Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Memorial, they will take on Celina at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Roughriders surely won't give up without a fight.
