Football Game Preview: Kent Denver Sun Devils vs. Hinkley Thunder

The Kent Denver Sun Devils will square off against the Hinkley Thunder at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kent Denver has four straight victories, Hinkley has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Kent Denver is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Aspen 49-19. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Sun Devils with their most commanding win of the season.

Yianni Balafas produced another solid effort throwing for 263 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 41 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kent Denver was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Kent Denver didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Colton Meade, Kase Fowler, and Matthias Brown picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Hinkley fell victim to Aurora Central and their airtight defense on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Trojans and fell 60-0.

Kent Denver's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Hinkley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything came up roses for Kent Denver against Hinkley in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 44-0 victory. Will the Sun Devils repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
