Basketball Recap: Bigtyme Prep Academy Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

On Saturday, the BigTyme Prep Academy Bears earned a 43-31 win over the Cistercian Hawks. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the Hawks are ranked 761st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Zion Ibekwe, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. His afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Stewart, who posted nine points.

BigTyme Prep Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points per game. As for Cistercian, they moved to 6-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

BigTyme Prep Academy will square off against Frenship at 3:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. As for Cistercian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greenhill at 6:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
