Hughesville hasn't had much luck against North Penn-Liberty recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Spartans will take on the Mountie at 10:00 a.m. One thing working in Hughesville's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
If Hughesville beats North Penn-Liberty with 12 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Spartans put the hurt on Bloomsburg with a sharp 12-3 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Ella Breneisen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Hughesville got a big performance out of McKenna Sones, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Sones a new career-high. Lyla Kinney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Hughesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.
North Penn-Liberty might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-2 to Troy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Mountie have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Elyna Booth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, North Penn-Liberty saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Graham, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Graham has hit this season.
Hughesville's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for North Penn-Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hughesville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North Penn-Liberty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hughesville suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to North Penn-Liberty when the teams last played back in March. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
