Softball Recap: Bryan Victorious

While Bryan put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Otsego. The Golden Bears had just enough and edged out the Knights 2-0. This was payback for the Golden Bears, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Otsego's batters probably weren't too happy with Thea Staten, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Staten has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bryan's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Slagel, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Bryan's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Otsego, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.

When Bryan and Otsego next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Golden Bears will take on Lincolnview and their four-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bryan 1.5, the Lancers 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Otsego will try to stop Archbold's nine-game winning streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
