Baseball Recap: Chicago Mt. Carmel Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

It was close, but on Saturday the Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan sidestepped the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings for a 4-2 victory.

Connor Elenteny tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tj McQuillan, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Chicago Mt. Carmel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Chicago Mt. Carmel will square off against Loyola Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, they will be playing at home against Lincoln-Way East at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Griffins' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
