Baseball Recap: Clearview Comes Up Short

Clearview extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-10 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Firelands Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Clippers of the 8-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Firelands, the win got them back to even at 6-6. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

For Firelands' part, Aaron Bower made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Bower was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Firelands is undefeated when Bower posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Daniel Kothe was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kase Rogers, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Clearview is set to square off against their familiar foe Black River at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Firelands will face off against rival Oberlin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Falcons' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Phoenix have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
