Volleyball Recap: Santa Fe Trail Chargers vs. Council Grove Braves
Santa Fe Trail entered their tilt with Council Grove on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Council Grove Braves. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chargers also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2023.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Santa Fe Trail who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 20-25, 25-22.
Santa Fe Trail found their leader in underclassman Sydnee Sleichter, who had 12 digs, three aces, and a kill. Sleichter is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Babbitt, who had nine digs and a kill.
Santa Fe Trail has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 20 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season. As for Council Grove, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-17.
