Basketball Game Preview: Clay-Chalkville Cougars vs. Hewitt-Trussville Huskies

The Clay-Chalkville Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Clay-Chalkville is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Hoover just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 68-18 loss at the hands of the Buccaneers. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Buccaneers are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Hewitt-Trussville waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Golden Gophers with points to spare, taking the game 58-40.

Hewitt-Trussville is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Clay-Chalkville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-11.

Clay-Chalkville came up short against Hewitt-Trussville in their previous matchup back in November of 2017, falling 73-61. Can Clay-Chalkville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
