Basketball Game Preview: Opp Bobcats vs. New Brockton Gamecocks

The Opp Bobcats will head out on the road to square off against the New Brockton Gamecocks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

It was a proper cat-fight when Opp challenged Straughn on Friday. Opp took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Straughn. The Bobcats have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

The losing side was boosted by DJ Hines, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds. He has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeshurun Crittenden, who posted six points and four steals.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, New Brockton's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Pike County on the road by a 47-31 margin. The contest marked the Gamecocks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Opp's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for New Brockton, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-11.

Opp ended up a good deal behind New Brockton when the teams last played last Monday, losing 67-52. Can Opp avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
