Baseball Recap: Nathan Hale Sets Scoring Season-High Against Franklin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nathan Hale). They never let the Franklin Quakers get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Olen Baumfeld made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Nathan Hale let Finn Leach and Andrew Goodman run wild. Leach went 4-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Goodman scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Goodman also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Julian Gonzalez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory got Nathan Hale back to even at 2-2-1. As for Franklin, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Nathan Hale didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 1-0 win against Lincoln on the 27th. As for Franklin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-1 loss against Roosevelt on the 27th.
