Baseball Recap: Normal West Takes a Loss

Normal West entered their game against Bradley-Bourbonnais on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats fell 6-3 to the Boilermakers. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Boilermakers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Chase Reinhart was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sam McCully made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Torin DeLaere, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 7-3. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Coming up, Normal West will challenge Urbana at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Sandburg at 4:30 p.m.
