Basketball Game Preview: Miller Rustlers vs. Todd County Falcons

The Miller Rustlers will face off against the Todd County Falcons at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Miller took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Mt. Vernon/Plankinton by a score of 63-51.

Meanwhile, Todd County earned a 63-55 win over Bennett County on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Miller better keep an eye on Ciante Black Spotted Horse. He was instrumental in Todd County's win, going 6-for-10 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points. Black Spotted Horse has become a key player for Todd County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 15 points, but 6-7 otherwise. Chris Ellert was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.

Todd County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Todd County pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points over those games. As for Miller, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

Miller and Todd County were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but Miller came up empty-handed after a 49-48 loss. Thankfully for Miller, Drake Espinoza (who went 7-for-13 on his way to 16 points along with six boards and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
