Football Recap: Bentworth Piles Up the Points Against Charleroi

Bentworth got themselves on the board against Charleroi on Friday, but Charleroi never followed suit. They blew past the Cougars, posting a 45-0 victory. The Bearcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Ben Hays was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 166 yards and three scores while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Jaquay, who rushed for 101 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bentworth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 271 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Bentworth's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Levi Urcho was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

Bentworth now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Charleroi, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Bentworth and Charleroi will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Bearcats will face off against rival California at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Charleroi is set to challenge their familiar foe Seton LaSalle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
