Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pekin). They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Morton Potters on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dragons considering their two-run performance the game before.
Zoe Lindahl was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Lindahl was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Beckham was incredible, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sarah Baughman, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Pekin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Pekin's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-3. As for Morton, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.
Coming up, Pekin will square off against Metamora at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morton, they will challenge Limestone at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Potters are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
