Volleyball Preview: Stony Point Tigers vs. McNeil Mavericks
After two games on the road, Stony Point is heading back home. They will welcome the McNeil Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Stony Point will be strutting in after a win while McNeil will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Stony Point was able to grind out a solid victory over Round Rock Westwood, taking the game 3-1.
Stony Point had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-18.
Stony Point can attribute much of their success to Camryn Moody, who had 27 digs, and Destiny Nazario, who had 11 digs. Moody is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, McNeil was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to Cedar Ridge.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-14, 25-15.
Stony Point's win bumped their record up to 15-20. As for McNeil, their loss dropped their record down to 2-28.
Stony Point took their victory against McNeil in their previous meeting back in October of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0. Does Stony Point have another victory up their sleeve, or will McNeil turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
