The Whiteland Warriors will square off against the Martinsville Artesians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Whiteland put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They put the hurt on Perry Meridian with a sharp 50-28 victory. With the Warriors ahead 42-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
The critical scores for Whiteland came from Jordan Palmer, Braydon Yates, Eli Taylor, Peyton Williams, Jonah Upchurch, Kaiden Lee, and Leydji Frederic.
Whiteland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 309 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Whiteland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Taylor and Lee. Lee got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Martinsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They slipped by Franklin Community 42-41 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Artesians in their matchups with the Grizzly Cubs: they've now won five in a row.
Whiteland better keep an eye on Chase Davis. He was instrumental in Martinsville's win, throwing for 203 yards and three TDs. Those three passing touchdowns gave Davis a new career-high.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Martinsville, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Landon Cazee, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Martinsville's defensive line made their presence known, laying out Greyson Betts. three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Lucas Dewey, Blane Littell, and Christian Mercer, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Whiteland now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Martinsville, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
