Baseball Game Preview: Mosinee Indians vs. Little Chute Mustangs

The Mosinee Indians will venture away from home to take on the Little Chute Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Mosinee sitting on three straight wins and Little Chute on six.

On Tuesday, Mosinee earned a 12-7 victory over Lakeland.

Easton Brooks looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elliot Yirkovsky, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tyler Baars, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Mosinee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Little Chute sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Marinette on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly two runs.

Mosinee's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Little Chute, their record is now 6-2.
