Softball Recap: Boyd-Buchanan Comes Up Short

Boyd-Buchanan suffered their closest loss since April 4, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Silverdale Academy Seahawks by a score of 3-1. The Buccaneers have struggled against the Seahawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Kinley Ervin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Boyd-Buchanan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cailyn Butler, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Boyd-Buchanan's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-7. As for Silverdale Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boyd-Buchanan will host Chattanooga Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Silverdale Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Baylor at 5:00 p.m.
