Softball Recap: Marion-Franklin Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Marion-Franklin was feeling good fresh off their 21-6 takedown of Africentric Early College last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Red Devils fell 7-3 to the Briggs Bruins on Friday. The Red Devils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bruins earlier this season, when they won 8-6.

Rylee Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

Marion-Franklin's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3. As for Briggs, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Coincidentally, Marion-Franklin and Briggs will both be playing Independence the next time they take the field. The Red Devils will head out to face the 76ers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Bruins will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
