Basketball Recap: Midlothian Comes Up Short

Midlothian dropped down to 7-6 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They were beaten by the Heritage Coyotes 73-40. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 79-52 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Midlothian lost, don't look at Jacob Almodovar. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points and seven rebounds. Player #25 also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

As for Heritage, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The final result isn't all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Midlothian is ranked 244th).

Cameron Lomax had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 70% from the field en route to 19 points in addition to six assists and six boards. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last 27 games he's played dating back to last season. Bryson Howard was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Midlothian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-32 win against Bowie on the 12th. As for Heritage, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 94-69 victory against Austin Prep Academy on the 11th.
