Basketball Preview: Lake County Baptist Lions vs. Union Grove Christian
After two games on the road, Lake County Baptist is heading back home. After both having extra time off, they and Union Grove Christian will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
After soaring to 67 points the game before, Lake County Baptist were a bit more limited in their match last Thursday. They took a serious blow against Cristo Rey St. Martin, falling 74-21. Lake County Baptist has struggled against the Knights recently, as their contest last Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Lake County Baptist saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Christopher Reindl, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Davis, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Union Grove Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in December of 2023 after their third straight defeat. They took a hard 65-47 fall against Berean Christian.
Lake County Baptist has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Union Grove Christian, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything went Lake County Baptist's way against the when the teams last played back in November of 2023 as the Lions made off with a 59-36 win. With Lake County Baptist ahead 59-36 at the half, the match was all but over already.
