Basketball Game Preview: West Wilkes Blackhawks vs. North Wilkes Vikings

The West Wilkes Blackhawks will face off against the North Wilkes Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with West Wilkes sitting on three straight victories and North Wilkes on five.

West Wilkes is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Wilkes Central, posting a 61-22 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, North Wilkes was able to grind out a solid win over Alexander Central on Friday, taking the game 46-35. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Cougars are ranked 50th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Wilkes pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for West Wilkes, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7.
