Softball Game Preview: J.R. Tucker Tigers vs. Patrick Henry Patriots

J.R. Tucker hasn't had much luck against Patrick Henry recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tigers will welcome the Patriots at 6:00 p.m.

J.R. Tucker is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 10-1 to Glen Allen.

Miyah Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Banton, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Patrick Henry waltzed into their contest on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Patriots have won three games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Patrick Henry pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for J.R. Tucker, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

J.R. Tucker suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Patrick Henry in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
