Baseball Recap: Greeneview Sets Scoring Season-High Against Catholic Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greeneview). Everything went their way against the Catholic Central Irish on Wednesday as they made off with a 22-3 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Max Penrod and Trevor Moore made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Penrod pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Moore tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Penrod went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Moore went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, eight RBI, and four runs. Those eight RBI gave Moore a new career-high.

In other batting news, Greeneview let Nick Hassid and Lyriq Abling run wild. Hassid got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Abling went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI Abling has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Andy Burkett, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Greeneview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Catholic Central only managed two hits.

The victory was the third in a row for Greeneview, bringing their record up to 10-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Catholic Central, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Greeneview is taking a road trip to face off against Mechanicsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.9, the Indians 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Catholic Central, they will be playing at home against West Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Irish will need to watch out since the Roughriders have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
