Baseball Recap: Litchfield Comes Up Short

Litchfield scored first but ultimately less than Greenville in their match on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Comets by a score of 5-4. The Purple Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ethan Saathoff put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Saathoff wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Titan Hires, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Litchfield's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Greenville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Litchfield has already played their next game, a 4-2 victory against Hillsboro on the 2nd. As for Greenville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against Pana on the 2nd.
