Baseball Recap: Rocori Beats Willmar for Their Ninth Straight Win

Rocori came tearing into Thursday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Willmar Cardinals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-5 back in April.

Tyler Prom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rocori got a big performance out of Zander Folkerts, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jace Griffin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Rocori pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Willmar, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8-1.

Coming up, Rocori will challenge Monticello at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 4, the Magic 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Willmar, they are taking a road trip to face off against Cotter at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
