Basketball Game Preview: Pace Vikings vs. Rivera Raiders

The Pace Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Rivera Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pace is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Donna North: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Vikings blew the Chiefs out of the water with a 64-14 final score. The Vikings pushed the score to 46-11 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chiefs had no chance of recovering from.

Bre Nelson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Andrea Salgado, who posted six points and eight steals.

Pace smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Rivera had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 45-33 victory over the Tigers.

Pace's record is now 18-12. As for Rivera, their record now sits at 16-12.

Everything went Pace's way against Rivera in their previous meeting back in January, as Pace made off with a 46-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
