Volleyball Recap: Pathway Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Maggie Shetler and Noelle Nelson

It was a proper cat-fight when Pathway Christian took on Galesburg Christian on Monday. The Panthers lost 3-0 to the Lions. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Pathway Christian ultimately came up short, they really made Galesburg Christian work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-18, 25-22.

Despite the defeat, Pathway Christian had strong showings from Noelle Nelson, who had 13 digs, and Maggie Shetler, who had 17 digs, six aces, and five kills. Shetler is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season.

The loss snapped Pathway Christian's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-2 record. As for Galesburg Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Pathway Christian is set to take on their familiar foe Unity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Galesburg Christian will challenge rival Faith Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
