Basketball Recap: Hebbronville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Freer, Hebbronville was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Banquete Bulldogs by a score of 49-38. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Longhorns as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Hebbronville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeffery Shreve, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Shreve has posted since back in November of 2024. Alexavier Gutierrez was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Hebbronville's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-16. As for Banquete, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Orange Grove the next time they take the court. Hebbronville will host Orange Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Banquete will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
