Soccer Game Preview: Northwood vs. Godinez Fundamental

The Northwood Timberwolves will face off against the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Northwood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakewood, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Timberwolves, who have now won four games in a row.

Meanwhile, Godinez Fundamental kept a clean sheet against Laguna Hills on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Hawks out 1-0. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Hawks are ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Godinez Fundamental's one-goal win came courtesy of Armando Puente, who's now up to six this season.

The win made it two in a row for Godinez Fundamental and bumps their season record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matchups. As for Northwood, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
