Basketball Recap: Romeoville Comes Up Short

Romeoville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 70-54 to the Joliet West Tigers. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 48-45.

Despite the loss, Romeoville still got an impressive performance from Kazaria Smith, who posted 42 points. That was a full 77.8% of Romeoville's points, marking the 27th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Makayla J Chism was the offensive standout of the contest as she earned 23 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Khiana Tyler, who put up 13 points.

Romeoville's loss dropped their record down to 7-20. As for Joliet West, their victory bumped their record up to 5-21.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Romeoville will square off against Joliet Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Joliet West, they will take on Plainfield East at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Plainfield East has lost nine straight at home , while Joliet West has lost five on the road.
