Baseball Recap: Lakes Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Lakes can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Lincoln Abes. The matchup marked the Lancers' most dominant victory of the season.

Aaron Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last six games. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Lakes let Christopher Payzant and Amare Ellis run wild. Payzant got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and one RBI, while Ellis went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The dominant performance also gave Payzant a new career-high in hits (three). Derek Doss was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Lakes' win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 3-15. As for Lincoln, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Coming up, Lakes will challenge Mount Tahoma at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers are facing the T-Birds at the right time seeing as the T-Birds are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Lincoln, they will square off against North Thurston at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Abes surely won't give up without a fight.
