Soccer Game Preview: McDowell vs. Freedom

McDowell is 0-10 against Freedom since October of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Titans will venture away from home to take on the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

McDowell came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Watauga, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, McDowell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Watauga are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Freedom's offense. They fell just short of Alexander Central by a score of 1-0 on Monday. Freedom have struggled against Alexander Central recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 3-11-1. As for McDowell, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4-3.

McDowell might still be hurting after the 5-2 loss they got from Freedom in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
