Basketball Recap: Rapides Takes a Loss

Rapides was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oak Hill Rams. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Rapides still got an impressive performance from Zayveian Johnson, who went 14-for-29 en route to 35 points and three steals. That was a full 58.3% of Rapides' points, marking the 16th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was MC Harris, who had nine points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Rapides smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Rapides' defeat dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Oak Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-15 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rapides will head out to square off against Oakdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rapides is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Oak Hill, they are taking a road trip to face off against Monterey at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
