Basketball Recap: Sherman Snaps 13-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Sherman fought the good fight in their overtime match against Anna on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 74-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Anna Coyotes. The Bearcats just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row.

Anna was led to victory by Karson Jones and Lamin Foon. Jones went 11 of 20 on his way to 27 points in addition to six assists and six boards, while Foon went 9 for 12 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and five blocks. Foon continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylin Williams, who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Sherman's loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-15. As for Anna, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-14.

Sherman and Anna could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Sherman (ranked 416th) will meet Denison (ranked 176th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Anna (ranked 540th) will meet Walnut Grove (ranked 57th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
