Preview: Alpha Omega Academy Lions vs. Northland Christian Cougars
The Alpha Omega Academy Lions will head out on the road to take on the Northland Christian Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Alpha Omega Academy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 90-49 loss at the hands of Westbury Christian. Alpha Omega Academy has not had much luck with Westbury Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Northland Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Lutheran North, falling 103-49.
Despite the loss, Northland Christian got a solid performance out of Andon "AJ" Newton, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Pallanez, who scored 17 points.
Alpha Omega Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Northland Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Alpha Omega Academy came up short against Northland Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 51-45. Can Alpha Omega Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
