Basketball Game Preview: Palo Verde Panthers vs. Bishop Gorman Gaels

Palo Verde is 0-6 against Bishop Gorman since January of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Palo Verde Panthers will challenge the Bishop Gorman Gaels at 5:30 p.m.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-30, which was the final score in Palo Verde's tilt against Spring Valley on Thursday.

Olivia Aznarez was Palo Verde's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Madeline Tsui held things down on the boards with three rebounds.

Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman faced Coronado in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Bishop Gorman simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Coronado 67-27. The Gaels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Bishop Gorman pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points per game. As for Palo Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Palo Verde was dealt a bruising 52-13 defeat at the hands of Bishop Gorman when the teams last played back in January of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bishop Gorman's Aaliah Spaight, who went 6 for 10 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.
