Basketball Recap: Scintilla Charter Academy Comes Up Short at Home Against Irwin County

Scintilla Charter Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Irwin County Indians by a score of 63-61 on Friday.

Scintilla Charter Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kaleb Cook, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds. Tyler Williams was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards.

Irwin County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Culpepper, who shot 63% from the field en route to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anterrio Wilcox, who went 6-for-8 on his way to 13 points.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scintilla Charter Academy will host CHESS Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Irwin County, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Berrien at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
