Softball Preview: Vancleave Bulldogs vs. Stone Tomcats
Vancleave is 7-2 against Stone since March of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Vancleave Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Stone Tomcats at 6:30 p.m. Vancleave will be strutting in after a victory while Stone will be coming in after a loss.
Vancleave scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Saturday. Everything went their way against De La Salle as Vancleave made off with a 14-4 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Vancleave as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Vancleave got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Rhodes, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendel Northrop, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Stone was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell just short of Wayne County by a score of 2-1.
Reeana Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with a home run.
Even though they lost, Stone didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with ten strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne County only tossed three.
Vancleave now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Stone, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.
