Softball Recap: Ranburne Victorious

Ranburne took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Randolph County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers on Tuesday, sneaking past 10-8. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 7-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Addison Gibbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Autumn Lovvorn, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Rylann Graham was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Ranburne and bumps their season record up to 7-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Randolph County, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ranburne will host Vincent at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.05 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Randolph County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wellborn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
