Volleyball Recap: Indian Creek Timberwolves vs. Mendota Trojans
Indian Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mendota Trojans. The Timberwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Indian Creek sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 23-25, 25-21.
Mendota found their leader in sophomore Zariah Escatel, who had 11 digs and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Escatel.
Indian Creek's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Mendota, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indian Creek will take on LaMoille/Ohio at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mendota, they will challenge Kewanee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Boilermakers have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
