Preview: Colonial Grenadiers vs. Apopka Blue Darters
The Colonial Grenadiers will be playing at home against the Apopka Blue Darters at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Colonial will be looking to keep their 12-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Colonial posted their biggest win since November 28, 2023 on Wednesday. They really took it to Mainland for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-25 victory at home. Given Colonial's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Mainland is ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colonial's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jasmine Bocca, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Jasmynne Gibson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Apopka ended up a good deal behind Horizon on Thursday and lost 56-41.
Colonial's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Apopka, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Colonial took their victory against Apopka in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 72-47. Does Colonial have another victory up their sleeve, or will Apopka turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
