Softball Recap: Buckhannon-Upshur Takes a Loss

Buckhannon-Upshur suffered their closest loss since April 11, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lewis County Minutemen by a score of 8-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buccaneers of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Buckhannon-Upshur saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Becca Pastorius, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another was Taylor Spratt, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Buckhannon-Upshur's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6. As for Lewis County, their record is now 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buckhannon-Upshur will face off against Elkins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.86 runs per game on average), something the Buccaneers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lewis County, they will challenge Fairmont Senior at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Minutemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Polar Bears have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
